2001. AYUÍDISCOS’s 30th Anniversary

In recent years the Ayuí/Tacuabé catalog has strengthened its position in the Uruguayan market to the point of becoming an unavoidable comparison model for local record publishing. Even in this scenario, broadcasting problems in the media, far from disappearing, have intensified.

As a result, the permanent quest for reaching out to the public in more and better ways led to the opening, by the end of 2000, of the first outlet for direct sale of discs and cassettes (Ayuídiscos), specialized exclusively in Uruguayan publications. The point of sales is located within the cultural complex of El Galpon Theater, in the heart of Montevideo. It shares a center for the dissemination of Uruguayan art with this legendary theatrical institution, together with the book publishing house Banda Oriental, Cinemateca Uruguaya and Socio Espectacular (a cultural membership program that offers discounts and benefits to subscribers). Further information about Ayuídiscos can be found in this website.

During 2001, as part of its 30th anniversary, the label performed an agreement with cable channel tvCIUDAD, seeking to consolidate spaces for dissemination. This enabled the filming of 32 top level musical videos of sixteen Ayuí/Tacuabé artists, something unprecedented in Uruguay.
